Bio/Description

Katie is an MPA candidate at the School of Public and International Affairs, where she focuses on policies to reduce poverty and inequality. After receiving her B.S. in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics from UCLA, Katie moved to Sierra Leone to work with the Clinton Health Access Initiative. There, she supported the Federal Ministry of Health to develop health workforce financing policies in the wake of the Ebola epidemic. She later transitioned to working on projects that expanded women's access to reproductive health services in rural Northern Nigeria. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Katie worked as an advisor to city and state health departments around the U.S., focusing on equitable testing and vaccination access. She remains passionate about addressing health inequities and improving affordability of care.
