JRCPPF director Atif Mian presented a keynote talk on global finance and growth at the Biennial Conference of the South African Reserve Bank. The conference focused on ‘Post-crisis lessons and policy challenges,’ looking at the new set of growth challenges facing macroeconomic policymakers in the wake of the Covid crisis. In his presentation, Mian touches on countries' exposure to the global financial cycle, how monetary policy shocks in advanced economies affect emerging markets, and how developing countries can potentially buffer their economies against boom-bust cycles.
