The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a 50 billion dollar Chinese investment initiative in Pakistan. Its purpose is to strengthen trade and commerce between different regions of the world by reviving the ancient Silk Route. Pakistan and China signed the multibillion-dollar deal in April 2015 and work on projects is currently underway. Dr. Nadeem Javaid, Chief Economist at the Ministry of Planning in Pakistan will highlight the rationale and details of the CPEC projects, financing arrangements, and overall socioeconomic impact for Pakistan economy.
