Event Description

Join us for a conversation with young alumni working at the intersection of finance, economics, and policy. This panel is being organized in conjunction with the SPIA Public Service Career Day.

Haider Abbas '16 is a current MBA student at Wharton Business School and the founder of the Kafalah Trust, a civic and social organization that helps underprivileged people from low-income communities find safe and legal employment opportunities overseas. Before attending Wharton School, he spent two years as a consultant and Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company. He also authored the book “Immigration and Integration Policy in Europe Denmark and Sweden, 1970–2010.”

Sergio Venegas Marin *18 is an Economist in the World Bank’s Education Global Practice. He leads projects that generate data and evidence to support foundational learning as well as to further distill the intersection of climate change and education. Prior to joining the World Bank, Sergio worked at a public consulting firm, where he focused on issues related to childcare, child welfare services, education, and social sector policy.

Mayu Takeuchi '23 is a Senior Research Assistant at Brookings Metro. She examines regional, cross-sector collaborations between civic, corporate, nonprofit, philanthropic, and government actors designed to drive inclusive economic growth. Back at Princeton, she was the President of USG, Director and Board Member of Princeton Envision, and she worked as Policy Researcher for New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance.

The panel will be moderated by JRCPPF Undergraduate Student Associates Co-Event Directors Jason Fuller ’26, Nicharee Jiraphanphong ’25, and Siling Song ’26.
