Mitchell R. Julis '77 P19

Mitch R. Julis is Co-founder, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Canyon Partners, LLC, a leading global alternative asset management firm that specializes in credit-oriented (as well as real estate and emerging market debt securities) investments. Prior to forming Canyon, Mr. Julis served as a portfolio director and a bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney. His writings on bankruptcy and distressed credit investing have been published in law journals and other periodicals. 

In 2014, Mr. Julis, along with Canyon Partners co-founder Mr. Joshua S. Friedman, received Institutional Investor’s “Lifetime Achievement” Award.   He serves on the Board of Trustees at Princeton University and the Advisory Council for the Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He is a member of the Governing Board for The Institute for New Economic Thinking, the Asia Society Board of Trustees, the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute Advisory Council, and is a founding supporter of the Program on Jewish and Israeli Law at Harvard Law School.

Mr. Julis received his bachelor’s from the Woodrow Wilson School and his juris doctorate and MBA from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, respectively. He received an honorary doctorate from Yeshiva University of New York in 2011.
